What is your subject and career goal?

Finance → TCD or UCD Smurfit. Medical → RCSI or UCD. IT → DCU, TU Dublin, or CCT. Biomedical → University of Galway. Match the university's subject ranking to your goal.

What is your total budget?

Annual total costs range from ~€18,000 (Limerick, MTU) to €50,000+ (TCD/UCD Dublin). Cork, Galway, and Limerick are 25–50% cheaper than Dublin for accommodation.

Does your IELTS score meet entry?

TCD and UCD require 6.5. DCU and TU Dublin accept 6.0. CCT accepts 5.5. Foundation Year programmes accept from IELTS 4.5 — the accessible entry route.

World ranking vs. affordability?

TCD or UCD carry global recognition. But DCU (#1 Ireland graduate employment) or MTU (affordable fees) may deliver better ROI for your specific field.

Large campus or small community?

UCD has ~40,000 students — huge and diverse. Maynooth has ~12,000 — more personal. Research which learning environment suits you best.

September or January intake?

Most degrees are September-only. TU Dublin Foundation and UCD (Dublin ISC) offer January intakes. DCU MSc Finance also has January entry.

How long can I stay in Ireland after graduating? +

Level 8 (Bachelor's) graduates receive 12 months Stamp 1G. Level 9 (MSc, MPH, MBA) graduates receive 24 months. During Stamp 1G you can work full-time to find a job and transition to a Critical Skills Employment Permit (salary €36,848+). This leads to Stamp 4 after 2 years and Irish citizenship eligibility after 5 years total legal residency.
